Spinning Colors Keeps A Legacy Alive

McMahon & Hill

Some victories go beyond the winner’s circle—they carry the weight of history, love, and the deep bonds formed in racing.

This past weekend at Gulfstream Park, Spinning Colors, a 5-year-old daughter of Hard Spun, delivered an emotional win in a $96,000 allowance going one mile on the turf. With Reylu Gutierrez guiding her from the gate, Spinning Colors broke sharply, took the lead early, and never let go, holding off a talented field to win by a neck.

But this win was about so much more than just racing.

Spinning Colors was bred and raced by Bill Parsons and David Howe, longtime McMahon & Hill clients. Bill was a true horseman, spending hours researching every mare he bred. His passion for the sport was undeniable, and he poured his heart into every decision he made as a breeder and owner.

When Bill passed unexpectedly, Mike McMahon, Bourbon Lane partners, Jared Henry, and trainer Mark Hennig stepped in—not just to keep a horse in training, but to keep a legacy alive. Jared and his father were especially close with Bill, making this victory deeply personal.

Watching Spinning Colors cross the wire first wasn’t just a moment of success—it was a tribute to the dedication Bill showed to the sport he loved. It was a reminder of why we do this, why we show up every day, and why the stories behind the horses mean just as much as the results.

This one was for Bill.
