Halfway Home: Saratoga Successes for McMahon & Hill Bloodstock

As we approach the halfway point of the prestigious Saratoga Race Meet, McMahon & Hill Bloodstock has plenty to celebrate. From maiden victories to stakes placements, our bloodlines and partnerships are proving their class on the track, reflecting the hard work, strategic planning, and dedication that goes into every horse we breed, race, and sell.

Opening Day Triumph

The excitement kicked off on July 11th when Sunday Girl, bred by McMahon Thoroughbreds and Spruce Lane Farm, captured a win on opening day. This victory set the tone for what has become a memorable meet for our team and connections.

Stakes Spotlight

On July 17th, Baroness Bourbon, co-owned by Bourbon Lane Stable, earned a stakes placing in the NY Stallion Stakes, with the winner, My Shea D Lady, being bred by McMahon Thoroughbreds. This highlighted our ongoing success in producing top-level New York-breds capable of competing at the highest levels.

Close Calls and Comebacks

July 18th saw Boss of All make an impressive comeback, just missing out on a win for owner/breeder Edition Farm.

Exacta for Spruce Lane

The following day, July 19th, was marked by an impressive exacta key from Aunt Yola, who was bred by Spruce Lane Farm. This was a tight race, denying Geopolitics a win in a tough Saratoga NY maiden special.

Pinhook Success

On the same day, Critical Threat, a Spruce Lane Pinhook graduate, scored a victory at Saratoga. This win underscores the quality of horses coming through our pinhooking program, offering early returns for their new connections.

Maiden Breakers

July 20th was a banner day with Nanoman, bred by McMahon of Saratoga, breaking his maiden in style. Adding to the excitement, G1 winner Candied, out of McMahon and Hill purchase Toni Tools, was G1 placed in the CCA Oaks, proving once again the strength of our breeding and purchase strategies. Her half-brother by Solomini, hip 356, will be offered at the Fasig Saratoga New York Bred Sale—an exciting opportunity for potential buyers.

Consistency and Class

On July 24th, Spinning Colors won an allowance for the estate of William Parsons Jr. and David S. Howe, showcasing the consistency of our breeding program. The victories kept rolling in with Accelerating, bred by McMahon of Saratoga and Jeff Gardella, breaking her maiden on July 26th. Laurel Valley, bred by Seidman Stable, then dominated an allowance race on July 28th.

A Winning Streak

August has started with a bang! Miss Lao, bred by Spruce Lane Farm and partners, broke her maiden at Saratoga on August 1st. The very next day, Neat clinched the G3 Hall of Fame Stakes, bred by Hiddenbrook Farm and Spruce Lane. As if that wasn't enough, August 3rd saw Smilensaycheesy break his maiden on debut, bred by McMahon Thoroughbreds. The winning streak continued with Bossmakinbossmoves, bred by McMahon Thoroughbreds and Spruce Lane, capturing a win on August 4th—four consecutive days of victories!

Looking Ahead

As we move into the second half of the Saratoga meet, McMahon & Hill Bloodstock is riding high on a wave of success. With the Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Sales in full swing, we look forward to continuing our winning ways and sharing more success stories with our valued clients and partners.

Stay tuned as we continue to showcase the strength and quality of our program—both on the track and in the sales ring.
