Bourbon Thief demonstrated her exceptional ability this weekend at Churchill Downs, impressively breaking her maiden in Race 5, a Maiden Special Weight for 3-year-olds and up. The race took place on Saturday, November 2nd, at 3:27 PM ET, covering a distance of 1 1/8 miles on turf, with a total purse of $120,000.
Under the expert guidance of Chris Landeros, Bourbon Thief broke well and adeptly saved ground along the rail before the first turn. She settled comfortably in mid-pack, closely tracking the leaders until the opportune moment to advance. In the final stretch, she made a decisive move, splitting her rivals and securing victory by a commanding 1 ½ lengths.
Trainer Ian Wilkes reported that Bourbon Thief emerged from the race in excellent condition, and feels that she has an exciting future ahead. With this win, she has now surpassed $107,000 in earnings.
Acquired by McMahon and Hill Bloodstock (Mike McMahon and Jamie Hill) as a yearling from Fasig-Tipton in October for $67,000, Bourbon Thief is a promising 3-year-old daughter of Tapwrit.
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all our partners at Bourbon Lane Stable and Selima Holdings on a great win!
